Movie Review: Mad Max: Fury Road *Spoilers Alert!*

Mad Max
Oh, what a day! What a lovely day! – Nux

Now, I get it.

It took me some time but I was finally able to watch George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road. The guy is a genius! I wasn’t blown away by the story which is an allegory of sorts. There was not much dialogue because he wanted the visuals to do the talking. Some of the imagery used were disturbing. But seeing it was a thrill ride from start to finish.

From the get-go, Max is already being chased. You wonder why but quickly dismiss the question because the pace is unrelenting. Suddenly, Tom Hardy’s character is imprisoned. The next thing you know, he tries to break out but fails. After a few minutes, he’s strapped to the front of a car that’s chasing down a runaway rig driven by Furiosa, an Imperator gone rogue played by the lovely Charlize Theron. Somewhere along the way, they team up because they share a common goal – escape. The whole film is a chase scene through the desert with the additional perils of sandstorms and cult followers in war vehicles firing at you with everything they’ve got. Beautiful chaos.

Truth be told, I can’t give justice to how great this movie is. You have to experience it for yourself which is something I recommend that you do in case you haven’t seen it yet. Rarely do I review a picture without trying to remember the actors’ lines. However, I was busy replaying the events I just witnessed to even care about the conversations of the characters. Having said that, here are my favorite moments from the movie:

1.) Sandstorm Chase
This is where Nux utters the line from the above photo caption. My heart was already pounding so hard during the intense chase and George takes it up a notch by having them go through a not-your-average sandstorm. It’s a wonder the main characters were able to survive that ordeal.

2.) Who’s The Hero?
Max and Furiosa’s ragtag bunch encounters a lot of problems en route to the Green Place. During one instance, our hero proceeds to hold off their pursuers while the rest try to fix their rig. Max emerges bloody from the explosion that ensues. However, the former Imperator was quick to assess that the blood was not his which she points out to the others.

3.) Guitar On Fire!
No explanation needed.
